Summary

Domain Solutions (DSL) has successfully implemented a transaction management system for Singlepoint Data Services using its CodeGenie J2EE code generator.

The Client

Singlepoint’s TruSeal Compliance Suite seals any digital file – be it a document, spreadsheet, voice or video - and warrants the contents of that file to evidential standards. It guarantees what the file contents were at the time of sealing, and identifies who sealed the file.  The Company sells managed services under multi-year contracts and offers pay-as-you-go software licensing. Targeted market sectors include law enforcement and professional services.

The Problem

Singlepoint tasked Domain Solutions to implement a transaction management system in addition to developing the TruSeal Compliance Suite.  Keen to quickly establish a market leading position, the commission demanded exacting timescales with penalties for late delivery.  The transaction management system - known as the Seal Management System (SMS) - stores information on each seal created. In addition, the SMS provides real-time billing capabilities and manages user profiles.  Whilst Singlepoint had a clear understanding of the Compliance Suite requirements, the SMS requirements were ambiguous and required detailed analysis.  It quickly became apparent that the SMS was as complex as the Compliance Suite!

The Approach

DSL elected to use the CodeGenie J2EE architecture and code generator to develop the SMS.  A prototype was quickly and efficiently developed directly from requirements models.  CodeGenie J2EE then generated the application layers automatically from the supplied models.  By deploying the available J2EE architecture in this way, Domain Solutions was able to concentrate on analyzing and modelling the evolving SMS requirements.  Not only were the overall development timescales reduced – essential to avoid overrun penalties – the resultant code was of a high quality. In addition to providing simple Create, Read, Update and Delete (CRUD) screens, CodeGenie J2EE also provided the means to model and generate the SMS Application User Interface (AUI).

The Success

Using CodeGenie J2EE, the Seal Management System was developed on time and within budget.  The SMS is operational at Singlepoint’s headquarters and has now been installed at a number of blue-chip client sites.  The SMS currently supports thousands of document sealing transactions per day.

The Future

Although Singlepoint was an early entrant into this market, competition has increased rapidly.  To retain their market prominence, Singlepoint will now expand their range of sealing services and thus the SMS’s functionality will be progressively enhanced.  Using CodeGenie J2EE ensures that additional services can be developed in a fraction of the time associated with traditional software development techniques.  In addition, Singlepoint will be able to swiftly adopt improvements in enterprise architecture technologies, ensuring that it remains one of the most secure and robust transaction management systems available in the marketplace.
